Kingsbridge, located in the Bronx, New York City. The neighborhood is named for the King's Bridge, erected in 1693 by Frederick Philipse, a local lord loyal to the British monarch. The bridge spanned a now-filled-in section of Spuyten Duyvil Creek, roughly parallel to the width of today's 230th and 231st Streets. Once a haven largely composed of Irish immigrants, it is now a more diverse area comprised of various ethnicity's.
